C R A M P’s great big gallery of racism!
I am having far more fun with these than I should. >.> If you’re going to fight oppression, might as well do it in a way that makes you laugh, right?
Congratulations! You’ve all taken/posted terribly racist, super disrespectful photos that stereotype and marginalize indigenous cultures.
To drive the point home - THESE are the people who are at fault RIGHT NOW, so it’s something we can tackle RIGHT NOW, instead of racial generalizations.
Do not blame an individual for what their ancestors have done. Blame them for what they are doing.
^
I’d also like to make the point that you don’t know if some of these people aren’t part Native American. Most of them probably aren’t, but you don’t really know.
I mean, I look European, but my great grandmother was full Native American, which makes me 1/8th NA, I believe.
I’d also really like to know if this is a bunch of white people carrying on about “racism” and cultural appropriation, or if Native Americans are really that offended.
Because we all know, people can’t wear the clothing of another culture or nationality without being a racist asshole. I mean, it’s not like some people find head-dresses to be beautiful and simply enjoy wearing them. It’s not as if some people belong to schools with sports teams named after native figures and, during sports events or related activities, dress up as natives to show team spirit or have some innocent fun.
Nooooo…wear anything other than what the PC insane asylum and its closed-minded minion has deemed acceptable and you’re a racist.
Whoever made this picture, and especially anyone who agrees with it, is a moron.
Well, I’m gonna come out and say it, I’m normally one of those people who likes to roll their eyes at PC crap. But I actually have seen posts by Native Americans saying that they actually are offended by it. First of all, the headdress thing isn’t something just anybody can wear, you’re supposed to earn it. So wearing that is actually disrespectful because it ignores what it actually means to the people whose culture it’s from. And dressing up in stereotypical Native American outfits ignores the fact that these cultures are actually still around, it’s not like you’re making fun of practices that were around centuries ago but died out, these cultures are alive today.
Here’s a blog by a Native American that discusses this moreI hear you. What’s also really offensive is when just anyone wears a football or basketball jersey. I mean, those articles of clothing are supposed to be earned and shouldn’t be worn by just anybody. Pretending to be a player for a professional sports team when you’re not really offends me.
I mean, it’s not like you’re making fun of players that died a long time ago, some of those stars are still alive today, show some respect and sensitivity by not wearing the uniforms they spent decades earning through hard work and dedication. To do otherwise would be disrespectful, offensive and racist.
Good grief people, of all the things going on in the world and this is what offends you?
BOLDED FOR, ONCE AGAIN, WHITE PEOPLE ASSUMING TO KNOW WHAT RACISM IS AND WHY POC SHOULDN’T BE OFFENDED BY ANYTHING BECAUSE WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS KNOW BETTER AND POC DON’T DESERVE TO HAVE AN OPINION.
ALSO: THAT WHOLE CHIEF ILLINEWICK THING? YEAH, IT HAPPENED. SO HOPEFULLY THAT PERSON WAS TROLLING.
talkstraight’s about me is the pinnacle of white supremacist thought.
